From the heartland of Wisconsin to the peaks of distant mountains, my story is one of transformation. As a Navy veteran who traded military precision for the structured world of software engineering, I've always found comfort in well-defined paths. After earning my degree from UC San Diego, I built a successful career in tech, climbing the corporate ladder and establishing the kind of life that many would call "the American dream" - a great career, a home steps from the ocean in beautiful Hermosa Beach, California, and all the security that comes with it.

But at 40, standing at the intersection of success and satisfaction, I made a decision that surprised even myself. I chose to step away from the security of my software engineering career to chase a different kind of code – one that doesn't run on computers but writes itself across the globe.

In 2024, I launched Simo's Media & Tech, a venture that bridges my technical expertise with my newfound passion for storytelling. While I continue to build websites and mobile apps, drawing from years of professional experience, my journey has expanded beyond the digital realm. Through The Adventures of Simo, I'm documenting every step of this transformation – from comfortable corporate life to the uncertainties of global exploration.

This isn't just about traveling; it's about challenging the narrative that success means staying within the lines we've drawn for ourselves. As an introvert stepping into a world of constant new experiences, I'm trading debugging code for debugging comfort zones.
